I can’t delete a job, even though it’s vacant

The job is probably still linked to another job that is specified as its Supervisor. You’ll need to unlink it before you can delete it. Go to the Maintenance Menu and select Job Maintenance. Enter the job reference and ‘C’ for Change. On the job details screen, enter blanks in the Sup Co/Ref fields and press Enter. You’ll now be able to delete this job from your system.

What are the ‘Supp Fixed’ and the ‘Supp Trans’ screens for in Employee Maintenance?

These are to create your own fixed or transactional data against each employee. For example, you may set up a screen which shows the details for an employee's company car, if he/she has one - the make and model, registration number, and so on. This is fairly non-volatile, fixed, data. You could then set up another screen for transactional data - which could be the service record for the car. Each service would form one transaction, and there would be a number of these during the life of the car.

The template for each type of fixed or transactional data screen you might want to use for your employees must first be designed in Parameter Maintenance. When you select the data screen in Employee Maintenance, you'll then be prompted to select from those templates that you've set up.

How can I update all my employee’s salaries at once - say when there’s an annual pay rise?

There is a Global Update option on the Miscellaneous Menu that will do it for you. You can enter either a weekly or monthly percentage change, or an hourly rate percentage change. The option will also allow global percentage changes to additional payments/deductions.

It may be that you are not authorised to view any employees in a particular department. If you should be so authorised, go to the Security Menu and select password maintenance. Enter your password and check department selection to see if you are authorised.
