Payroll/Personnel Interface
I have made a change in Payroll and it isn’t coming across to Personnel?
There are many reasons why the interface between payroll and personnel may not be working properly. Because it is complex, it is important to set it up correctly - but since you only set it up infrequently, it’s all too easy to forget how it’s done. It’s worth reading through the appropriate chapter in the Reference Manual(s), but if that doesn’t help, try these checks below.
Firstly, check that the interface is open - in Personnel go to the Interface Menu and click on Interface Control. The Static Data Interface Status box must be ticked.
Then go to the Company Linking option and select the index (the payroll and personnel company numbers combination) you’re having trouble with. On the field selection screen, check that the data path is correctly entered and pointing to the correct payroll directory.
Finally, check that the linking of data between the two systems there is set up correctly, ie, you’ve enabled the data transfer (entered a 1 or a 2), and you’ve got it going the right way - a 1 for Payroll to Personnel and a 2 for Personnel to Payroll.
A field which is to be transferred from Payroll to Personnel (contains a 1), should be greyed out when you view this selection screen, because Payroll ‘owns’ the data and you can’t change that from here. If you viewed the corresponding Payroll interface screen, the reverse would be true - you can’t change data that is ‘owned’ by Personnel and transferred to Payroll.
If you can see nothing wrong with any of your entries, it’s possible that the data transfer was made BEFORE the interface was opened and/or the linking was correct. In this case, run the Report/ Delete Employee Changes option to clear the interface file, make the changes again and re-run the Report/Update Employee Changes option again.
If none of this solves your problem, you’ll probably find that one or more of your data files have been moved. This cannot happen in normal running of your TeamTrak system, but one of your IT people, or someone else who has access to your system, may have done so. In this case, we’ll have to talk you through finding the files and redirecting any paths that have been corrupted. Call our HELP desk and tell them that you’ve followed the procedure outlined in this FAQ, with no success.
